In 2006, I began making soap in my kitchen in response to a family member who suffered from eczema. I discovered that shea butter worked well for this condition but we were still using commercial soap that irritated their skin. So, I began researching soap-making and looking for ways to incorporate shea butter into the soap. In the process of finding something that worked for my family, I fell in love with the art of soap-making. Before I knew it I had a stockpile of soap that was a bit much for even a family of 8.
We serve ingredients sensitive customers who not only want to feel good about what they're putting on their bodies but want to smell amazing too.
I eventually began making all manner of complimentary products. Through research I also discovered that over 17 million Americans suffer from eczema and countless others with sensitivities to chemical laden products. In 2009 while on maternity leave with my youngest son, I sketched out a business plan with the mission to provide options to those in need and The Bath Place was born.
The first 3 years we were moonlighters, selling our products online, at craft shows, festivals and farmers markets. In 2012, at the intersection of preparation & opportunity and after being laid off from my corporate job, we opened our first retail location. From our Main St. shop, we create our products with gratitude, love, patience and faith in every bar.

Kimberly grew up in Roanoke Rapids, NC a small town in eastern North Carolina near the Virginia border. She later moved to Rocky Mount, NC where she worked as a Business Performance Analyst in the banking industry for 11 years prior to opening her first retail location and becoming a full time entrepreneur in 2012.
Today she continues to operate her Main St. shop and online stores while managing a growing wholesale enterprise. The Main St. shop also serves as a creative space where all products are "made fresh onsite and in the open."
Kimberly is committed to leading change by exemplifying personal sacrifice & investment, participating in youth outreach and partnering with community programs, government agencies and academic institutions to provide summer youth employment, job training and internship opportunities. Among her key strategic priorities is the creation of a manufacturing space that will train and employ members of her local community.
